Looks like a fantasy repro of a Greek coin to me. Hard to tell from this photo.

It looks like a very crude rendition of an Athenian "owl" tetradrachm. See This website for numerous examples. The portrait on the obverse looks very nice New Style, but the poor bird on the reverse looks like it was done by Edvard Munch.

I'd want to see a better pic to be sure, but it's doesn't look like a genuine Athenian owl. What I can't yet rule out is that it's either a genuine coin that's been severely damaged and crudely repaired, or perhaps even an ancient locally-made imitation owl from one of Athens' trading partners.

I think I can see signs on bot sides that it had a hole punched through the middle of it and turned into jewellery; it may be ether a genuine coin, or a replica that was specifically made for jewellery purposes.

Here's another one exactly like it that's just been posted, proving that it's a modern replica.

I found one of these the other day in the same type of casing and all. I was just curious as to where they are being found. I found the one in Ogden, UT. Hoping someone comes into the post office to claim it as it was found in a tub of outgoing mail. I took a picture of it because I was curious as to what type of coin it was.
