Am I just imagining things, or is there a suspicious looking line running along the edge?

In the purchasing of ANY valuable ancient coin I check the provenance, and check the data base of the International Bureau for the Suppression of Counterfeit Coins (IBSCC), even if the coin in no way looks suspicious to me.

IF you can't get access to this database, go to a reputable dealer, most are more than willing to help. Most reputable dealers are subscribers to this Organisation.

Even before the above two posts I'd looked at this coin and had serious reservations about its authenticity.

I'm far from an expert on Greek coins and cant even say exactly why but this coin just doesn't look right to me.

Neither does this one in your other recent post:

Unless your an expert (please dont take this the wrong way but as your asking for opinions on here I'm guessing your not), a museum or have money to burn I would keep well clear of coins of this quality. Unless of course your buying from a well respected company and getting a 'cast iron' guarantee of authenticity or your money back.

Lots of people fake high quality copies then clean up on ebay - unfortunately people keep buying so they keep making them - I was tracking a few Roman auctions last week where people were bidding into the £100s for obvious fake or reproduction coins.

Have you already bought or do you own this coin?
