commoncents13 Valued Member Canada 248 Posts	Posted 01/12/2011 9:50 pm Taking pictures of a coin can be easily distorted either by a little dirt or shadow with the angle of the light. I scanned upside down and maybe the brightness and contrast settings a bit different to show a clearer picture. I also just scanned a closer upside down angle view: Report this Post to the Staff

thatcanuckyguy Valued Member Canada 166 Posts	Posted 03/09/2011 3:20 pm No problem Dottir :) I'm going to grab a loupe myself of ebay. I'm using a 10x magnifying glass and it does work fairly well under good light but a loupe is the way to go. I' also going to look for a good used 20x-40x inspection microscope which will really help with looking for doubling error for sure ;) Report this Post to the Staff
Dottir Pillar of the Community Canada 864 Posts	Posted 03/12/2011 3:35 pm I was using a weak old handheld and just got a 10X loupe the other day and am so stoked with how much more small details I can see. One thing I saw clearly that I couldn't before was that my 1947 low maple leaf is a POINTY 7. Photos made it look blunt but the loupe shows its pointy. I'll keep looking for the blunt ML I'd like to get a 15X loupe next, and would love one of the scopes that can take photos as I have no camera and need to scan my coins. One day way down the road when my budget is better shape I'll spring for those as well as a small scale! Report this Post to the Staff
