Send the Morgans for sure. The Eagles aren't worth slabbing unless they grade 70 and that's not likely. You could send the 2 Morgans and pick out your 3 best Eagles and hope for a 70. BU Eagles are really gold bullion to most people with no premium at 68 or 69 even.

Agreed, send the morgan's, I wouldn't bother with the gold unless you were pretty sure of a 69 or 70. Without a minimum of 69, they will be around raw value anyway.

Even though the gold coins have a low mintage of 31,000?

I would say yes. Even the lower mintage modern will really get no additional premium with a 67 grade, the reason being is that all modern bullion is struck with the intension of being at or near perfect, i.e. 68+. Anything less is actually devaluing any premium you would have on a low mintage piece. Modern Bullion is very well made and anything less than 69 is considered an "average" strike for bullion, in my experience.

Is this true of all gold or just modern?

Just modern. There are very few classic gold pieces that grade as high as the average modern.

Thanks wheatguy, I realize few classic pieces would grade as high. I was asking more because of the "Without a minimum of 69, they will be around raw value anyway." statement by bullseyebullion.

That is mostly with modern. If you look at classics, you will see great changes in price (on most issues) over just 1 grade point. True GEM quality classics will bring huge premiums over Choice, and so on.
