There have been some nice coins on ebay. There have also been some FAKES. Through the use of threads on the forums we have info on sellers in addition to there feedback. The feature I like best is that I only have to make one bid and that is what I feel that coin is worth to me. What happens to a lot of people is they want the coin. What matters to them is winning. Many times they realize that they paid more than the coin was worth and look for a way out. Be well informed and know what you want and what it is worth to you. Enjoy life and enjoy your collection. Have Fun.

I find the same thing at a lot of the live auctions I attend. Harder to back out of these, though. I have seen some common coins go for astronomical prices, especially junk silver. I take the same approach, bid up to what the coin is worth to me. When it goes over that, I'm done. It's alot more entertaining to watch this happen at a live auction than it would be on ebay.

I just started using a computer and am not familar with online auctions. Is there any protection or ability to recover your funds for missrepresention. I see the tab on CCF (auctions) is that where you get started.

When you have problems when dealing with people on ebay, you have to either:

1. Contact the seller and try to work things out
2. Prove misrepresentation to the people at ebay...this is - to say the least - 'a process'

However, most of the time if you talk rationally with a seller and explain yourself and why you think a problem has occurred, they are pretty reasonable. I ALWAYS take the time to take a quick look at sellers' feedback rating and number. If a seller has several hundred feedbacks with over 98% of them positive, that says a lot to me.

Personally, I've sold lots of stuff on ebay and always try to represent things that I sell as accurately and clearly as possible so that problems don't occur. I just treat the people how I would want to be treated and as long as they're making sense and not being nasty to me, I'll be very reasonable - that's why I have a 100% positive rating over these several hundred transactions.

It's not hard to find good sellers on ebay; it's also not hard to spot the bad ones. Do your research before you even think about buying something from someone who you haven't looked at first. That's how I deal with things and I really haven't had many bad experiences.
