I've recently stumbled upon this 1955 coin while bartending and - after research - can't figure out if it's SF or NSF.

Though the serif on the "I" isn't entirely visible the "I" is pointing between two denticles. I'm struggling to figure it out.

Does anyone have an opinion or advice on how I could decide?

Thanks!

(Also, I'm new here so if I'm not following proper etiquette or should have posted this somewhere else please let me know!)

It is SF.There are no NSF in 1955 Quarters. The dies for NSF had thin wire-like rims, and were only used in 1953.

First of all, to the forum!
Now an answer to your post (IMO):1953 was the first year for the SF/NSF varieties
in all denominations of coinage. In 1954 & 1955(cents)An error at the mint happened
Some were minted NSF.(All should have been the SF variety)
Nickels were the same. But again 1953 & 1954 NSF or SF there was no 1955 NSF.
Dimes 1953 SF/NSF(no NSF variety for 1954 or 1955)
Quarters the same only 1953 SF/NSF (NO 1954 OR 1955 NSF that I have heard of)

Therefore your coin is the 1955 SF quarter. I hope you understand this posting.

(My wife says sometimes I ramble on TOO MUCH)
