Please let me know your opinion on the grade of this one. I'm a bit unsure. Thanks in advance.

I'd have said 63, but then I could never could determine re-toning. By the way, if you did the restoration, I'm sending my problem pieces to you! Really a beautiful coin.

Thanks everyone -- too bad about the cleaning opinions though.

In fact I think I pulled this one from a bag of wheats or maybe a Whitman folder. I may have cleaned off some dirt or grime with acetone, so it would be a shame if I de-valued it in any way. I am pretty sure I didn't buy it carded. Oh well...

One other thing: On this picture I used Picasa's "I'm feeling lucky" tool. It helped with the contrast a bit but may have changed the colors. Is this sort of photo-editing considered a no-no for grading purposes? (I would never do it to *sell* a coin, but thought it might help with the grading.)

Thank you for any clarification on that.

Yes, NEVER reprocess your images. It changes how the coin looks. Take the picture using proper lighting and white balance settings, then resize to about 800x600 or slightly less to fit the forum requirements.

Thanks, Thad. As usual, you're a great asset to the CCF.
I need to read up more on taking good coin pictures, and of course practice more too.

edit: I've undone the photo reprocessing, and the picture now shows exactly what my camera produced (cropped and resized only).

I use Picasa too, but the only editing I do is the crop function.

A great, simple to use program is Paint Shop Pro. I've seen it for $10 on occasion. You can probably find an older version on ebay for that. I'm using v 7.04 and it meets my needs.
