As much as I love the flash of my gold coins, I love my "golden one" way more

Gee, there still some romantic guys out there! Womankind loves to know about these things.
To be successful, I guess that good provenance for both helps a lot. Good coins are like that as well.

If I'm sleeping in the basement and the wife is upstairs, then that means the smoke is much stronger upstairs and if the fire is advanced enough to where I only have seconds to get out, then the chances are very high that I would not be able to get upstairs to rescue the wife in the first place. On the other hand, with most of my collection in Danscos there's no way I could carry out the whole collection in one trip - too heavy and bulky. So I suppose I'd grab the Danscos which have my least replaceable coins (mainly my grandfather's collection of LWCs and my 7070), slide everything else under the bed and hope for the best, and then get outside. I love my wife but I can't rescue her if I'm unconscious from smoke inhalation.

It has to be the coin collection. The wife can save herself but the coin collection can't.

Quote: "Your" wife! Well in that case, definitely the wife. (If it was yours, I was going to ask if you would reimburse me the value of my collection). I lost a wife that was 37 years old. Don't want to go through that again! I also have to add my concern that there are no smoke detectors. I have six wired to a central alarm with a battery backup plus 3 carbon monoxide detectors wired to the central alarm plus one stand alone smoke detector.
