Hmmm... Been there, tried that!
I am looking at that page now, and under Basics, it gives me the option of changing my password, then lists city, state, country, and gender. Then it has the view signature in posts? drop box and the signature checkbox checked by default? dropbox, and the final item is a view your uploaded files button. Somehow I just don't see anyplace to put in a signature line.
Am I in the right place?
Thanks for your help, ACE Mike

By the way, as Scubu mentioned, I do already have a website set up and running for nearly ten years actually. There are two websites, one is a commerce site where my inventory is listed and the other is just an image gallery with 40,000 coin images. I do take paypal. I used to take Google payments, but they kicked me out because I sell merchandise that is over 100 years old, and they have some restriction against selling items that exceed that age. I guess they are concerned that the 1907 VG-8 Indian cent I have for sale is a national treasure? I may start taking Amazon payments in the near future... we'll see! ACE Mike

Mike, I just received the 1950 D Franklin from you today and this website is where I learned about your business. Very nice Franklin BTW.

Sounds like you're in the right place. I have a "Text Box" next to Signature. It could be because of your low post count that yours isn't available yet.
Keep posting!

That must be it, bherring. I just checked again to make sure I did not overlook the text box, but it is definitely not there.
Thanks for your help anyway. I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction!

ACE, you have to have more than 50 posts for the signature box to show up.
FWIW, my take on banner advertising is that it's good for name recognition. Basically, I see it as nothing more than a billboard on this great superhighway we call the Internet. Chances are, I don't need your services when I see your banner. But if I see it enough, when I do have need of your services, I will remember your name - unless your competitor puts his banner in front of my eyeballs more often than you do. I'll rarely click the banner when I see it though.
How often do we see a certain banner from Google for a a well-known bullion seller on this great site? I've never once clicked it - but I do visit that site regularly, in part because I constantly see their name.

Waredu,
I had the same thought about the subject. As you mention, many people will not click on a link for fear of where exactly it will take them, but after seeing the name enough times they may be curious enough to type the name into Google and see what comes up. That is why I want to have an ad on this site.
Thanks for your input.

Mike, I'll be putting together something for you here today and be emailing you. Your first attempts never reached me for some reason, I got the last one though. Signatures aren't available until 100 posts. We had way too many signature spammers. They would just register and make 5 or so posts to get the backlinks. I'm about to do the same thing with profile links, it's getting out of control. People registering with no intention of posting, they just want the profile links. What they don't understand is that profiles aren't even accessible to search engines.

I've known people that do all the time and end up taking their computers in to have all the viruses removed. And as to Google if you go there now and type in COINS, you will get 49,900,000 results. Think about this. If you tried to look at them all at 5 per day you would need to spend 9,980,000 days to see them all. Or 27,305.062 years.

Carl, That's the idea behind the banner ad. I am hoping that by seeing my company name, people may try typing that into Google rather than a hopelessly generic search like coins or coin dealers. It's all about name recognintion.
