Has anyone had experience with ICG? I've seen some ICG MS-70 coins, and It appears that they're quite free with the MS-70 grade ... then again, maybe my coin dealer is only getting in good coins?

Don't even mention that T.P.G. name on this forum, someone might beat you up. I.C.G. is the worst or at least one of the worst grading companies in existence. It is widely known among collectors that ICG stands for I Can't Grade. If you want the finest T.P.G. for Canadian coins, stick to I.C.C.S. Coins slabbed by this company always sell for higher premiums at auctions!

They are one of the top four grading companies for US coins although they are a bit liberal with the grading of moderns. They are fairly accurate on classic US coins but the downside is that they tend to have lower resale value than PCGS, NGC, or even ANACS.

Thanks! I think I'll stick with ICCS or NGC, then!

I agree with biokemist. I have had good experience with ICG. Personally, because of their lower resale value, I have picked up good coins which would have been pricier in an NGC or PCGS holder

If a Canadian coin, CCCS is where to be. Anyone who has followed Canadian numismatics the last 36 months knows that. The grade creep as well as tampered holders and MISTAKES are catching up with ICCS. The only people who support ICCS IMO are dealersa or people who listen to dealers. An old ICCS holder with water mark is gospel....new one.....is garbage.....but they both start with a Gee

All I can say is that any ICG slabbed coins that I had cross graded by Canadian TPG were down graded an average of 2 grades it is costly when dealing with MS-65 coins.I personally will only bid on any unless I take this fact into account.

Nice. Thanks for the input - the coin really is in stellar condition, but I'm not very good at grading, so I couldn't tell you what I thought it was. I can tell you though, that the coin hasn't a ding, scratch or mark on it, and it's got a really nice, solid strike. Beautiful patina, too, nice rainbow style shine at 15-20 degrees.
