Hi Glyth From a fellow cornhusker !!

I was born In Grand Island but have not lived in NE for many years now,, I do however have relation all over the state !!

If I lived in Omaha,, and wanted to get in the learning curve of my detector,, while I reseached the area for better places meaning older coins !! I would probly try and get on the University football field, city parks, and some of the swimming holes along the river .

about 40 miles north of you is a little town called Herman,, I had some relation that lived there, He found V nickels , walkers and Indian Head cents in his yard after the rains,, so I know that there is good hunting there .

Take a look at some local historical maps,, seewhat you can come up with, If you need help just holler !!

Metal Detecting is allowed in many public areas,, but its always a good Idea to check Regs first,, the College field I would ask permission !!

Swimming holes seldom have any restrictions since they are a public activity area.as are many local parks .

always fill the holes and leave minimal traces is the best polocy no matter where you detect !!

If you do your research I'm sure that you will !! I have always wanted to detect NE but so far have not had the opportunity,, If you get the chance check out some of the stuff up around Stafford,, I know for a fact that there were many homesteads up in that area !! Its where my family Homesteaded !!
