I was wondering if you could give me your opinion on this coin I have. It has
had a gold pendant loop attached to it. It is a Gold coin I don't know what
purity yet only that it is gold. It appears to be from the reign of Tigranes the

Great of Tyche on both sides. It is in excellent condition. All I can find are
bronze and other metal coins not a gold one. I did research and found out that
Tigranes was the first to use gold in coins for his area. Please let me know
what you think of this piece. Thanks

Sadly, it's a jewellery copy of a silver coin. I couldn't find any pictures or mention online of a genuine gold coin of Tigranes II, and there aren't any listed in my Sear catalogue; they either don't exist or they're extremely rare.

And I'm not sure it's gold - a coppery colour appears to be starting to show through on the high points. How did you test it for gold, a touchstone test, or specific gravity? It could be gold-plated, which would fool a touchstone.
