They may be getting close to adding two more Presidents to the list of President dollar coins. Just heard on the radio that they have rushed 85 yr old ex-President Carter to the hospital. If he dies within the next three years, they will be adding him and Reagan to the list of eligible Presidents for the dollar.

Oops new update, now they are saying they rushed him to the hospital for an upset stomach.

I almost guarantee that Reagan will get a coin regardless of what happens with Carter. As we have discussed before, any ambiguity in the legislation is easily removed with more legislation.

The odds are fairly good that Ronald Reagan will appear on a
commemorative in 2013, even if he isn't on the "last" Presidential dollar.

Myself, I'm excited that Theodore Roosevelt finally gets to be on a coin.
(2013 Presidential dollar)

He should have had a commemorative coin in the pre-1954 Classic era,
never mind the Modern Commemorative era.

How we managed to get to the year 2013 before honoring Theodore
Roosevelt with an official U.S. coin is a mystery of the ages.

Teddy sure is overdue for his own coin, yessiree! Maybe substitute something for the Nixon spy dude. Reagan was awesome. Hope Carter id OKAY, he is a decent shining light amongst those men.

If this passes (and I believe that it will), the same legislation to approve the commemorative could (and probably will) also remove any doubt on the legality of a 2016 Presidential dollar for Reagan.

Odds don't look good for a 2013 Ronald Reagan commemorative program at the moment. The legislation was introduced July 24th or last year and has gone absolutely no where since then. It is doesn't pass by the end of this year it will die and have to be reintroduced all over again. It only has 35 co-Sponsers in the house and would need something like 260 to come to the floor for a vote. About the only way it will pass is if the stick it into the huge omnibus spending bill they will create in December to make do for the Budget they never bothered to write. (By law the ONLY legislation the Congress HAS to pass every year is the budget. Basically the 13 major appropriations bills that run the government for the year. Anything else they do or pass is just extra stuff. In twelve months they haven't even started working on those bills and by law they have to be passed by Midnight tomorrow. Is there any way we can sue all of Congress for the return of their salaries for the year because they didn't do the work we hired them to do?)

It might not happen in 2013, but I still believe that it will happen eventually. 2011 would have been the ideal year, so the year that it actually happens does not matter.
