See, there is nothing like finding treasure in old papers. Sure beats finding warrants or bills

What a neat find! I think it would be cool if you kept the coins just as you found them, especially since you collect Christmas cards. Not to mention you have the sentimental value, which in my opinion, is worth a lot more than the monetary value of the coins.

I checked my list of Mercs that are worth something more than bullion value and here they are: 1916-D, 1921-P, 1921-D, 1925-D, 1926-S, 1931-D, and 1942 (2 over 1).

Those cards are GREAT! Wonderful nostalgia memorabilia, add coin colleting interest and you have a great bit of history, and family history at that. Very nice :)

That is awesome! What a great story!

I think that you should keep them together, too!

Thanks for all the comments everyone. It was a real pleasant surprise to find the card.
I figure it was a christmas gift given to my mother when she was a child. My Mom has passed away so I can't show it to her for memories.
I think I will slip a piece of paper in the little book and close it to protect the coins. It will be a good item to pass along to my son as a remembrance of his grandmother.

Was thinking about the card mostly (I like it). Hadn't thought about the coins touching but a sheet of non-pvc plastic should work as the divider.

Definitely leave them as they are. The coins have a very small monetary value that can be replaced, but the card has a great sentimental value that can't be

A reminder of bygone times. Pretty nice, there's more than one kind of treasure and you found one.

Considering those have been in there for all this time I wouldn't worry about adding anything in between now. Just put the entire thing in a Zip Lock plastic bag, push out as much air as you can, seal and let it be as is.
Or send to me for safe keeping.

I would think any paper put inbetween them needs to be acid free paper to avoid speeding up the coins tarnishing.maybe someone else has a better idea of what to use.
