Hello All,

Recently I bought a coin from an antique shop. The coin was made in 1756 (as punched and printed on it). I was certain that the coin was not a counterfeit but then I found this forum and would need some help from anyone here to identify this coin whether it is a counterfeit or real. I'm going to provide a picture of the coin and will post that later on, but I really need some indications to identify it. The coin is Spain Milled coin, made in 1756, for as long as I know, it was made in Mexico, as there's a Mo (means Mexico) that flank the year when it was made. And then there are also some part of the crowns and the picture of the lion stamped on the coin that I'm not certain. If there's a picture of a real 1756 Ferdinand VI Spain Milled Coins that anyone can provide, I would really appreciate the help!

Thank you.

What size is the coin and what does it appear to be made of? Most all 1756 coins with the Mo mintmark would have the following basic design: Map of the globe flanked by pillars on one side and shield with a crown on top on the other. Can you spell out the letters around the central design? If so I can tell you what you have.

You seem to be describing a Mexican Pillar coin - unknown denomination. However, before you go much further you need to be warned that 1756 is a heavily counterfeited date and some are made with silver. A picture of a real coin will do you NO GOOD. You are not familiar with the type based on your description so a picture is not adequate.

Please post clear pictures of your coin and we can help out with the identification.
