I'm under the impression durable goods are prohibitive and tellers as agents of the bank can't accept those. OTOH, if you gift them chocolates or pastries, e.g. once they eat it, they destroy the evidence, so that's OK. I'm looking for other ideas of perishable gifts, if you got any. Thanks.

I intend to give my tellers a grab-set of old buffalos, indian-head pennies, etc. Nothing too expensive, but a nice way around Christmas to say "thanks, guys".

I'm not sure about giving them coins. That might peak their interest enough to look some things up and decide to keep them. Some tellers might not know what they are giving you. Office people tend to like the snacks. I would stick with that. I made the mistake of giving to much info to a couple of people who were watching for coins for me and the next thing I knew the decided they would keep them. I like getting other people interested in collecting but it's hard when non collectors start keeping the coins just because they see you want them so they assume they must be worth something.

We do the chocolate coins thing, nod, those are always a hit. Ten, my banks don't allow durable gifts, so I'm looking for more ideas on perishable ones, basically.
EDIT: Thanks, Blue, I'll try and think of other snacks...

For Christmas last year , I gave all of my favorite tellers 1998/2000 Wide AM's in a Christmas Card along with a little write up explanation of what the WAM was! They all loved them! Also , on occasion, I give them any foreign coins I run across, as I don't collect foreign coins etc. plus any duplicate CLAD proof JFK or IKE's that I might find. Most of them have no idea of what a proof coin even looks like! Keeps them happy and let's me dump my halfs with no problems!

i dont give them anything. some may think this is unwise or not polite. You see I have a wife that thinks that kind of thing is a bit over the top, and may lead to something unintended. I know all of you have good intentions and that its "thanks" for helping me with the coins you find.. but, to others, ie. spouses, it can look suspicious. Now, some of you may have a spouse that recommends such actions, others I dont know. All I know is that my wife comes first and any other teller, is a long second. I give my verbal thank you, and some small talk and even care to share the wealth at the time of transaction, but other goods or services rendered after, is a bit much for my taste. I dont feel it is a safe thing to do if you are married. just my honest opinion...

i you wish to offer a person some compliment or gift you can do so. The gift must not be a coin, because non collectors would try to hold their precious finds to some time. hence give them a lunch or a coffee or something which would remind you at times.
warm wishes.

The real big surprize may well be the end of their job. Always check first with the management of a bank or any company as to their policies about gifts. Remember that almost all banks have fantatic security cameras going all the time. If a teller is not supposed to accept gifts from customers and does, might be the only and last one. A freind of mine gave a luncheon for a bunch of tellers at a bank he frequented. Naturally not all the tellers were invited so the ones left out reported this to management and although no one was dismissed, all were given notice that one more time and OUT.
