France 2nd Empire, 10 Centimes, bronze. KM# 798.1 (A) Paris mint. Nice coin, little bit of rim damage but still I would grade it at EF-45. Value listed at $30.00 US.

Well of course there is historical significance.

If I remember right Napoleon III was the first to start issuing decimal currency since sometime shortly after the First Napoleon.

this is a 10 (dix) Centimes btw. There is also a variation of this coin when Napoleon does not have the wreath on his head.

These designs were used on most of the denominations of the period.

The 3 kings that reigned after Napoleon I did not issue any centimes coins, except for trial strikes and issues for the colonies. The smallest denominations there were 1/4 francs and later 25 centimes which is only a different name for the same thing.
The Second Republic has released coins with a denomination of 1 centime, but Napoleon III was indeed the first to release 10 centimes coins after the reign of Napoleon I.
