These coins are already slabbed, pit your grading skills against the "experts".....each other.....It may be tricky because these coins are scanned through plastic slabs, so keep in mind that scratches and white specks are on the holders, not the coins. If a coin is annotated as being scratched, I will tell you. You can decide if the coin is annotated as being cleaned or damaged.

2001 commemorative dollar in NGC plastic (I guess that it is a commemorative anyway)

Next, deja vu....another 1837 CBH...this one is in NNC (National Numismatic Certification)....yeah, I know....

And a 1900 half in orange ANACS.

A little tricky due to the scratch issue - plus it's hard to see wear that makes a coin go from MS to AU via a scan, but...

$1 Buffalo - MS69
50c CBH - AU-50 (weak strike of these makes grading tricky IMO)
50c Barber - MS-64

scratches are very evident on the second and third coin, so the grade will less only.

warm wishes.

MS69
AU-50(I'd give it a 40, but NNC had likely bumped it up)

I have my newbie guesses together here ...

The 2001 Buffalo is MS-68

The 1837 CBH is XF40 .... I see no evidence for a 'details' grade.

The 1900 Barber Half is XF45 .... I claim original surfaces but the possibility of a long ago dipping/cleaning.

I've posted a total of 15 coins all together, everyone has exhibited advanced grading prowess on everything ' EXCEPT ' the barber half.....I know that it is disguised, but does not 'anyone' recognize it? (ANACS did).

I have to admit, I'm struck by the delineation between the rim and the denticles. Are you hinting that this is a circulated Proof?

(Forgive me for not posting more in these threads - I've been in an all-day Wikipedia clickfest of naval history. Stuff happens. )

I like history very much Dave. Did you learn anything interesting ? WWII naval history is absolutely fascinating. I too have spent some of the day having fun.....I have a couple of these zero turn mower thingies, and I finally got to drive one of them today....what a blast, I raced with the guy who takes care of the lawn, (at least 'I' was racing)...it was so much fun, until Emilio got mad at me for tearing up the grass where I was zero turning.

It's like this, zeewool. I'm a bit of a fan of high-horsepower cars; Youtube occasionally recommends me videos of cars with stupid motor transplants. So I clicked one. I have the computer wired into my HT system via Toslink, so I can do some serious motor noises.

The recommended videos on the side included a couple of tractor pulls. I clicked. Some of them had turbine engines. I clicked more. I eventually landed on something that referenced the Turbinia, the first vessel with the Parsons steam turbine. Even though I've been there before, I Wikipedia'd it.

It was all over at that point. I've been in this chair since Noon, chasing 20th-Century naval battles and individual ship losses. You wonder why I occasionally go missing for entire days? Now you know.

Help me.

If I had a zero-turn mower, I'd be looking for wet grass, trying to figure out how to make it do a donut.

I totally understand....It is very hard for me to stay focused on anything....I am so easily sidetracked and hijacked. (So are some of these threads).

'Relatively' impressive SuperDave. I imagine 'that' comes with experience.
