About the only thing I can add to this is that the date begins with 17, but the rest is illegible. 26mm, with the word "REG" on the obverse.
Thanks

G'day, "Reg." might be an abbreviation of "Regina", meaning Queen.
So, I'd be looking for countries that had a Queen in the year 17?:
Queen Anne, Queen regnant of England, Scotland and Ireland 1702~1707; who then became -
after England and Scotland were united as a single sovereign state, the Queen of Kingdom of Great Britain 1707 until her death in 1714.
She continued to hold the separate crown of Queen of Ireland and the title of Queen of France.

Upon closer inspection, on the obverse, the letter "B" appears before "REG" and on the reverse, there are 3 centered lines of text above the date. The first line of text appears to end in the letter "A", the second line of text ends in the letter "I", and the third line of text starts with the letter "A" and ends with what could be an "A" or "R". As for the date, although it starts with "17" the last 2 numbers appear to be "30".

Hopefully this additional information will help with identification.

Thanks to everyone.

DCH is right: this is a 2 liards from the Austrian Netherlands, with the following legend into the wreath : AD USUM BELGII AUSTR = for use in the Austrian Netherlands (nowadays Belgium)and date.
Just under the date you can see the mintmark "hand": mintmark of Antwerp
The portrait of the Austrian empress Maria Theresia is surrounded by the following legend: M(aria) T(heresia) D(ei) G(ratia) R(omanorum) IMP(eratrix) G(ermania) H(ungaria) B(ohemia) REG(ina) A(rchidux) A(ustriae) D(ux) BURG(undiae)= Maria Theresia, by the grace of God Roman empress, queen of Germany, Hungary and Bohemia, archduchess of Austria, duchess of Burgundy.
Possible years with the hand mintmark are: 1749, 1750, 1751 and 1753.
