I found a 95965691 sn. Is that hi? do they go to 99999999?
Also how may 0's to be considered low? I thought 5 at a minimum but I found one with 4 o's and want to keep it.
Go Phillies.

Anything with the first digit being a 9 is pretty high in my opinion, but then I have seen lots of auctions that declare a low serial number as anything followed by one zero.

when ever I look for a high serial I look for it to start off with 2 9's, and when I look for a low serial I look for it to start with at least 4 0's. Though, I've yet to find either.

I thought that only uncut currency sheets start off with 99XXXXXX in the s/n? To prevent the "fantasy" cutting errors.

you are correct. Technically the highest serial number you can find in circulation in 96000000...... so his 95965691 can be considered a high serial number

I have a topic down below about high numbers and have found SN's starting with 99 in circulation which are hand cut from sheets.

99 numbers in circulation are generally notes that were stolen.

Does this mean that any note starting with a 9 is considered a hi note?

That's about like asking if a serial that starts with a zero is considered a low note.

In other words... no.

Well if I'm understanding the above posts it's not like asking that. I'm not trying to be a smart arse or anything, just trying to learn.

Hear me out - a low note has to have 4 zero's in front of it in order to be considered a low note (probably not true for everyone, but I'll agree). If the highest note you can get only starts with two 9's (even if it's stolen like stated above) than there's no way you can get four 9's. So I'm wondering at what point does is it considered a high note.

My serious answer to that question is any note that starts with 9599 that would be the equivalent to four leading zeros since only 96 mill notes are circulated per block.
