Hello,
I have several coins from Italy with an "R" mint mark. Does anyone know what mint that is?

Thanks

John Paul

Guess that for Italians it is so obvious that nobody bothers mentioning it. But here for example http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Identi...s#Mint_marks various marks on European coins are listed. This is for euro pieces, but the "R" was also used on the old lira coins.

When in Roma I guess you say "ROMA" but since I am in North Carolina at Red Neck Central, I will say Rome.

Doesn't matter how many times you post it, you can't change the English language all by yourself. In English, it's Rome, period.

Perhaps, but the county I reside in just took down the "Home of the KKK" sign at the county seat 5 years ago. I also attended a church when I first moved here where the Pastor said "In this Church the DNA has only ONE strand."

An American would probably not just say "Rome" anyway (and certainly not "Roma") but "Rome, Italy".
