Nice to have you on-board fairj71961. As for the modern nickels, I would suggest you get the best available as of this date and some rolls, the future will not hold any great value for them except for maybe the most important thing, your love for the coins. Review the mintage figures for nickles for the last few years. Best of luck in your collecting.

I have them all by the rolls, in satin condition, in unc. condition and proofs! Figure one of them might do something sooner or later. My gut instinct, at this time, is buy the proofs if you can find them reasonable. I do believe, in the end (whenever that may be) the Ocean in View nickels will be the "keeper" of the series as so much attention went into the Buffalo nickel last year and the OV was, for the most part ignored by non collectors. I purchased a roll of proofs of each 2005 nickel from a national dealer, who busts proof sets open, and they cost me around $4.00 to $5.00 last year. They are now selling in the $7 to $8 range so I have already made money should I decide to part with a few. I also purchased a roll of "satins", of each nickel, but I am a bit disappointed that the 2007 RedBook has FAILED to mention the satin coins, out of the mint sets, as they too should draw more value than a normal business strike as there are FAR fewer satins available than the millions and millions of business strikes. Hopefully the people at RedBook will get their head out of a dark place and start showing the SATINS in the 2008 book!
I have already started selling off a few of the 2004 nickels as the Peace Medal nickels made a quick jump so I acted accordingly!

Fair you may want to take a look in your phonebook or online for coin shops that might be in your area. Recent proofs are something that usually wouldnt be too hard to find at most stores, you may even want to go ahead and pick up proof set for the other coins from the same year. Nothin like walkin into a coin shop to realize there's hundereds of things you didnt even know you wanted

You can also look for online dealers or on a site like E-Bay.

You asked where you could find them, I just thought I'd make a few suggestions, trying to help out that's all. Normally the members of the board would want you to hang around for a while and get up to 50 posts before trading etc.
