I picked up some 2$ bills when I was at the bank the other day. Is this one special?

I plan on keeping them.

If you like it, keep it. But just out of curiosity, why are you planning on keeping them?

I have quite a few notes that have no added value but the serial number just kind of pops out at you.

I save them just because.

I keep them separate from my "good" notes. That way, if you ever need the money, just spend them.

With the leading 2 zeros, could this be called a low serial?

IMO four leading zeros is low enough to keep. But if its the lowest you've found, then it has a place in your collection.

I am just beginning to collect paper currency. I actually have more bills from other countries. I love these 2$ because they are now completely unique when compared to the redesigned currency of today you don't ever see them in circulation. I will just hang on to them, if nothing else they are worth 2$. That is the beauty of hoarding money as a hobby.

What would be a good book to pick up so I could learn more about currency collecting?

I just bought my first currency book (recommended by my local coin store manager): Standard Catalog of United States Paper Money by Cuhaj & Brandimore. List price is $26.99. 27th edition, published in 2008. 421 pages. It appears to me to be an excellent book. However, it's the only currency book I own, so I really don't have anything to compare it to.

BTW, I see that they just came out with the 29th edition; 456 pages. To be released on November 12, 2010. Amazon has it for $19.79.
