In 1793 I'm not sure how they made the coins. The coin I have seems to have been made wrong. On the front is Louis XVI ROI DES FRANCAIS. The right side rim is larger over DES FRANCAIS and the left side LOUIS XVI can't be read. On the bottom you can't see the heart and there's no edging on the coin. On the backside it has the colum and wreath with 2S. On this side you can see the edging on the bottom but not the top. I'm trying to find out if this coin has any value to it. I was offerede $50.00 for it about 4 yrs. ago. Any advice would be appreciated.

The only way I can send pics is to e-mail them. I took them from my cell and sent them to my computer. Sorry I don't have a camera to send them through the computer. Let me know. Thanks Tinginger

G'day, now that the pics havre gone from your 'phone to your computer, you can upload them here.
Look on the left side of this screen, see "Tutorials",
and below that "Uploading Photos",
... all will be revealed to you.

1793 was a tumultuous era in French history.
Even the legend that you have copied was controversial:
"ROI DES FRANCAIS" meaning "King of the French (people)",
was a shift from "ROI DES FRANCE", "King of France".

Bronze coins of that era are often off-centre strikes:
I have several. I suspect that I'll have to pay quite a premium to get one nearer the centre.
I don't know, but they may have been hand-struck at that time, which would explain the final result.

The value depends on the mint (a single capital letter - most common is A for Paris) and the amount of wear. Heavily worn 2 sols are worth $5-10, while strong specimens can go up into the hundreds of dollars. If you were offered $50 it sounds like a pretty decent coin.
