My dad was there in WW2 and came back with a variety of 1930s-1940s. Is there any value? I know this is a general question but I don't have a World Coin book....
New Guinea shillings were issued with dates 1935 1936 1938 1945. They are all sterling silver .925 fine. I have a complete set in uncirculated.
The complete set is worth perhaps $40 in this grade.
They were minted in Australia at the Melbourne branch of The Royal Mint. This Mint is now defunct and Australian coins as well as many current issues of Papua New Guinea coins are struck at the Royal Australian Mint in Canberra.
