The largest ever found in a single container in Britain, has been valued at £320,250

Years of work remain on the coins

Seems a fairly low estimate for such a find - works out about £6 per coin. Still, not a bad haul for the detectorist!

First reports had it estimated at around $5,000,000.00 USD. What happened? I would love to be able buy Silver Romans for six pounds sterling.

Suppose it does include 11,000 that are "too corroded or dirty to identify yet" - but still seems a very low estimate for such a great hoard. Wouldn't be surprised if the panel of 'experts' kept the figure as low as possible to increase the chances a local museum will be able to afford it, and stop them going into the private sector
