You mean "uploading", not "downloading", of course. The most common problem is image documents being too large. Resize them smaller. Are you uploading from a site like Photobucket so that your images show up right here on your posts? If you can describe in detail what error messages you are viewing, or the steps you're using in your attempts to post photos, we could help you directly.

I try to "upload" my pictures using the software Canon Powershot SX110 IS supplied. I see people refer to Photobucket. I take it this site is compatible with coin forum. If a picture is to big the forum can't use it, how does one re size a digital photo?

Do you mean you are trying to download the pictures from your camera to your computer?
You should be able to to that with your Canon software.
Once the photos are in the computer then you want to upload them to Photobucket. To do that you need an account. Then upload the photos from the website. Your canon software is of no help for this process. To post the pix here then you post the embedded link available under the photo in Photobucket.
The other way, that I find easier, is to export a smaller version of the photo (640 x 480) to a folder. Then upload the photo using the tools in the "Reply to Topic" interface.

I trust that you've studied the tutorial on uploading photos - almost directly to the left of this post under "Tutorials".

Not a problem. BTW. 640 x 480 is the resolution of a standard old style 4:3 computer monitor. Many new cameras will have different ratios.
In addition to reducing the pixel size many applications offer a way to increase the JPEG compression. I use Photoshop that has a "Save for Web" option that compress photos really well. In Aperture (another favorite of mine) it is a setting called "picture quality" under export settings. Most of the time a low picture quality will not be discernible but will make the photo file size really small, 40k or so.
