Great fun I had this weekend sorting through appx 1000 AU/MS
Jefferson nickels 1962-Date.
Read on if you want some details ......
I've shared often my goal to complete the entire Jefferson circulation strike collection from local bank rolls ..... and am now 217,000 coins (that's 5425 rolls) into the quest.
My focus so far has been on filling my humble Whitman 9009 .... Jefferson 1938 to 1961. Still need the 38-S and 43-D to get it done.
I recognized the series did not end in 1961

..... so I put aside every AU/MS coin dated 1962 and later for a time when I could get them organized. All were stored in Crown Royal Whiskey sacks ..... forgive me for that!
The organizing time was this weekend ..... and I had great fun going through appx 1000 coins to fill my new Dansco 7113 with 1962 and later Jefferson's.
I learned a lot in this effort ..... paid attention to step details ..... and recognize on my own that the US Mint changed something in 1987 whereby FS nickels became the norm rather than the exception.
Anyways ...... here is a photo as I sort through the 1980's by year with the 1990's and 2000's waiting.

Found a lot of 'modern' MSFS coins ...... will organize them soon and give away to whoever needs them. Stay tuned for the freebie .....
Soooo .... all that said ..... I have refined my expectations for my circulation strike collection ......
1987 and later will be Mint State Full Step (MSFS)
Prior to 1987 any FS coins are treasures ..... and I have a few.
Some fun discoveries from my sack of Jefferson's:
A lovely matched pair of 1963 and 1963-D MSFS coins ...... from my roll hoard that I asked about a while back.
Stunning MS65+ FS 1971 ...... wow.
A MSFS 1974-P
A lovely MS65+ FS 1982-P ..... wonder why this is a valued coin with over 292 million minted?

And more ....... but now I am long in word ..... sooooo ..
I saved some MSFS for freebies ....... hope somebody can use them .....
Having a great time searching humble nickels ...... Thanks to all you experts for all your knowledge.
