Nick finally got a decent ladder type number. This is a lot tougher than I thought.

Wow Ceylon nice serial! Edit: I would certainly consider that to be a full 8 digit ladder. I really don't think everyone can appreciate just how hard something like that is to find, especially in CU condition.

I found this one at work last week:

Ladder-Note

They also spent the 86200862 bookend note, but did not spend the 86200863 which would have given me a very nice 3 consecutive note set. :(

From what I have seen so far only a few are collecting the "step up and step downs". Too bad you did not get the next note.

I have some that go like 0862 8620, 0862 8610 etc and it only makes sense IF it's a leading zero for me.

I have a 2006 series San Fran $1 note, L-R block, with the SN:

00102300.

I set it aside because I thought the serial was neat. Would this be considered a ladder? Or is that a stretch?

It's not a huge stretch just a small one, but I would still keep it because it has eye appeal. The only digit that can mess up a note like that and get away with it are zeros. Any other unwanted digit ruins it.

Couple of exceptions to the zero rule so to say is something like the ladder you sold me and a solid run.

0234 5666 meaning the beginning or the ending number is the same either before OR after the ladder or even some thing like this 1111 1123 and not as much premium as eliminating the zero.

The 0304 5060 which is on the first page is starting to look a lot appealing / interesting the more I research it (bookend 0 / zero). Also when the alphas match or there is a star you get another bump up as well.

Doesn't that drive you crazy to come that close and miss?

I see people on ebay sell notes farther off than that for $5 to $10 every day. I'd bet you could get $10 - $15 for it.

Numismo, you have a run of 7 digits and a very nice find. Higher the grade more you will get out of it. BTW, glad to see around on the currency side.

Numsimo, That's a nice note and looks "high" AU to me.

What about a set like this and does it make sense? One step ladder / repeaters?

3029 3029
3030 3030
3031 3031

OR

3332 3332
3333 3333
3334 3334

The second set would be more expensive to assemble as you would have a solid and binaries. The most expensive note in the first set would be the super repeater.

Those would be very sweet if they were also same series/block, but to do that in CU notes would be difficult at best. Since those serials are 10,001 apart even if you were to buy $100,000 worth of bricks the chances of ever getting a combo even remotely similar would be pure luck.

It would be easier to do it with just the serials and ignore the series/block, but as I said not near as cool.
