Hello, my name is Julia and I have two coins that I would like to find out some information about.

I have a 1826 Ferdin VII DEI Gratia, can someone tell me anything about it possible value?
I can't seem to upload the photos? I am pretty good at uploads as I have several online stores and it is really not rocket science to upload?

I also have a 1808 Carolus IIII DEI Gratia.

jmdjbc1 Hello Julia and welcome.

The data you supply is only a start. To do an identification by type - the legend from the other side will help. Also the type of metal and size of the coin in mm. It could be copper, silver or gold.

The other side of the coin is the Obverse by Spanish definition because that is where the Name of the Country is. But in the US heads is the front or obverse and the other side is reverse.

The King's portrait and the date of 1826 limits that coin to a very short list of possibilities as far as country of origin. The leading contender is Spain itself not one of the colonies. It is also likely that the coin is NOT an 8R (since even Spain didn't make any in 1826). But it could be another one of the numerous denominations. The legend on the side opposite the head is critical for determining all of those. The copper coin series has no legend no that side. In that case (copper) the mint mark is to the left of the King's portrait and the denomination to the right.

When reading the legend on a silver or gold coin copy all of the letters as precisely as possible. The Mint Mark will be found near the denomination (in most cases) and could be a symbol or monogram as opposed to a single letter - do your best at describing what you see.

By now you can see the value of posting a picture. Just make sure your picture is 70k bytes or smaller (reduce it as a jpeg file) and make sure the name you give the reduced picture has no spaces or odd characters in it. You should be able to post if you follow those rules.

To the left of these posts, under the red-banded title "Tutorials", is a discussion entitled "Uploading Photos" which should help you. Good luck!
