I won this on ebay. It's huge, 55mm. I want to know what it is and from when? I had real problems getting the colours right in the pictures and I'm not sure what is right, so you can se that I made them a little diffrent and hopefully you can understand how it looks. The last picture of the rabbit I made with the focus of seeing it good and not thinking of light and/or colours..

I guess I need to buy a calibrator as I'm not sure if you se what I se.

Hope anyone can help. I must say that I'm realy impressed with the knowlege that you guys (and girls) have on this site!

Regards
Jacob

It's definitely a charm of some sort, rather than a coin. There's no denomination on it, and it's carved, so not really a coin. I can't seem to make an image (of the whole design) out of it though...

But even though it's a charm, at first look I would reckon it still being at least 100 or 200 years old.

However, the largest Chinese cash coins are the 500 and 1000 cash coins minted during the Qing dynasty by the emperor whose name I just forgot. They actually have the "classic" look of ancient Chinese coins and have the denomination on them.

Well it was sold as a coin. It said "Bronze Large Coin Round Pendant Chinese Curio Collection". How sure are you that it's not a coin?

Actual coins would have at the Emperor's name on the obverse, and aren't this large. Plus, they would only have a hole in the middle (square one) and not all over the piece. However, it is a charm and still looks to carry some age with it. Most likely it was strung in the middle and used as a centerpiece for an even larger charm.

Sorry, but it's definitely not a coin. These multiple-hole or "voided" charms, also known as "openwork" charms, have been made in China for centuries; it can be hard to tell antique from modern reproduction. This page on zeno shows dozens of different types, with all kinds of animal and geometric designs.
