Is this a variety or just a normal issue. The "p" and "4" are filled.

Nice find. No real increased value unfortunately. The stems of the P and 4 have a do break off from time to time. I have several coins with the filled P & D MM as well as with 4,6,8 & 9's. Does not happen as often with the zero in the date. I keep them for my collection. I like the way they look.

It looks like that coin either suffered from an extremely worn die or from sort sort of PMD. I think the radial lines in the top pic point to a very worn die. Not an error or variety, but still an interesting find.

The extreme lines are heavy die flow. That is not PMD. It is all caused by a VLDS die when this coin was made.

No. The number of the LDS & VLDS coins is higher than the number of the earlier die states. To me, give me an earlier die state, they take prettier pictures and smile just right for the camera.

Crazy, here we are 7 years later and I find the exact 1984 dime you have described!
The 'P' is filled and the '4' is filled. Also the 'W' in 'WE' is practically non existent, and the obverse strike seems off center. Crazy!!
Maybe it is the coin you had!!
