I just found out that my dad has a Gumball Machine in storage and agreed to buy it from him. I thought it would be a cool way to get started collecting quarters. I plan on putting it in a fast food place my neighbor owns. I thought it would be nice to have a bit of extra income and a bunch of quarters to look through. Just kind of excited to have my own little place where only I can get quarters. I'll be sure to tell you if I find anything interesting! Edited by Glyth 08/21/2006 11:12 pm

sound like fun, That could be a good way to get all of the State Quarters and get started on the older ones.

That is a good idea if there are no tax implications involved like needing a business license, and filing with the city and/or state for tax purposes. I wish it all works out and that you do not need anything and you get lot'sa quarters. Good luck,

It seems that I'd have to pay 2 things...(1)30%(hopefully) fee goes to the business it's in.(2) Income taxes. Luckily I'm only 14 and my income isn't taxed. So I just need to see if my neighbor will let me put it in his restaurant for only 30% and I'm set.

Hey Glyth, I'm impressed, so when you get into the work force, let me know where because I might invest a few bucks in the company with a smart young man (girl) like you working there. With someone that industrious, you should be able to talk your neighbor into paying for the right for you to put the machine in his place... Again, good-luck Glyth and I hope you find a couple each of 1932-Ds & Ss Berry

Absolutely brilliant idea! Not only is this a money making venture but, a coin collecting one as well! Truly BRILLIANT! Good luck! Let us all know how it goes. We might all want to buy stock!

If this one works out for ya the next step will be to get some more machines and modify the workings so you can have one taking dimes, one taking nickels... etc

Just to update everybody I just got the machine today. My dad ended up saying I can have it for free(a nice surprise considering it's worth almost $200). There was one problem though, the glass to hold the gumballs was broke so I'm going to have to order a replacement. Other than that everything should be fine. My neighbor is supposed to call me tomorrow and if all goes well I'll have a signed contract by the end of the day. Ahh...gotta love that banana.
