It's in Royal British Mint package.

Would-You-Like-BU-2-GBp?-Mastermind-XVIII-It-Is!

Would-You-Like-BU-2-GBp?-Mastermind-XVIII-It-Is!

But you'll have to work your brain for it!

The rules:

1. Everyone can play, regardless of the number of posts. The more players the merrier!
Minorities are encouraged to (ap)play!

2. Let's make it simple! Out of 50 currencies below, given by their code name, I'll picked a permutation of eight distinct currencies. And here's the twist : at any moment only five currencies are "active" and the other three are "ghosts".

3. You can post 5 currencies, no repetition within a single guess allowed, and I'll give you feedback on it. Succumbing to the peer pressure I am dropping my bovine terminology and tell you how many chosen currencies are in your guess and how many are in correct places. The "ghost" currencies are "invisible" to me, i.e. I treat them as if they were not a part of a winning set.

For example I start with this:
Would-You-Like-BU-2-GBp?-Mastermind-XVIII-It-Is!

Say, nic guesses first and he posts

KGB, CIA, LSD, AAA, AKA.

Then I'll reply: 3 right/1 in right spot (KGB , CIA, and AAA are right, CIA is in the right spot). AKA is inactive, so it is not included in the feedback.

4. After each guess/feedback I will rotate my combo by a position always clockwise. So after my first reply it becomes
Would-You-Like-BU-2-GBp?-Mastermind-XVIII-It-Is!

And if ScottyTurner goes next and guesses AAA, CIA, AKA, BMW, IOU, my response will be 2 right/0 in the right spot. The right one would be CIA and AKA now, while AAA and BMW are "invisible" to me.
After this response I'll rotate them again and so forth

5. To win this game you'll have to name the five currencies active at the time of your submission and in correct places. Remember, I'll rotate the set after each (single) feedback, and then give the next feedback according to the new position!

6. Everybody gets three guesses a day, day determined by the forum clock. I set the "clock reset" at 10 pm. Noon doesn't work for me as I'm at work, and I'd like to avoid aftermidnight rush hour. If you guessed 3 times just before 10:00, after 10 you can guess again. There's no rollovers, if you missed a chance to post three guesses today, there's no additional guesses tomorrow. You can submit guesses at any time but it may make better sense to wait till I reply to the pending guess.

"Final Guess" clause:This could be posted at any time and it ends the game for you. If you get the winning combo it'll end the game for everyone!

"Antisniping" clause: After "5 right ..." feedback is posted no new entrants will be honored.

"Weavus Rule" clause: Wisecrack comments are mandatory by both players and bystanders. In case you guessed the winning five but you hadn't made a wisecrack you will be disqualified!

Did I forget anything? Shoot me questions if needed.
We'll start tomorrow afternoon sometime.

All right, a new player! To be familiar with the Mastermind (the version we're playing) I recommend that you look at the previous games. Many of them are in the "ended contests" forum above.

Where are my manners?

Welcome Scotty!

As svslav mentioned, our version is a little different. Instead of 4 colors out of 7, we use a pretty extensive currency list. And expand the guesses from 8 to a gazillion currencies.

Some of the hosts may or may not add other twists. You just never know what you're going to get until it starts.

It's the eye of the tiger, it's
the thrill of the fight
Rising up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor
stalks his prey in the night
And he's watching us all with the eye of the tiger

Is that what they're saying?

I hate when you sing a song for years, then find out what they are really singing.

You don't want to know weavus.
