First some quick background. I've been on ebay for a whole lot of years. I've purchased hundreds of things. I've been mildly disappointed before and I have never left a negative feedback. I have not even left a neutral feedback, I simply didn't leave anything when I felt neutral about a transaction. Now, I have this transaction in front of me. I won the item on the 16th of October and paid for it within hours of winning. I received only the standard communication from ebay - meaning nothing extra from the seller. I did not get an email saying my item had shipped nor was there a tracking number posted up. The item said delivery between 10/21 and 10/27. Ok, here is where gets interesting (I guess). The 27th comes and no item. I send a note via ebay to the seller asking for status. 3 days come and go and nothing. No email reply, no item! So I send a second note on the 30th. Today the item arrived (Nov 1). I never heard from the seller, not a peep. the item was postmarked the 27th (the day it was supposed to have arrived and the day I sent my first communication, 11 days after I paid for it. So what feedback should I leave or should I just let it go. I read some of his past feedback and this is not a new comment. Do I 'pig pile' on or do I let it go. I did get my item and I'm happy about that. I should add: the item was barely protected. I'm actually surprised it made it at all through the USPS system thoughts? Well personally I'd leave positive/neutral as you did get the item. Then let the seller have it via the star system. no reason for 4 stars if your not happy

I've had this kind of thing happen to me in the past and it is annoying, but as long as I did eventually receive the item and it was as described, I usually just let it go.

I would not give 5 stars!! You were the owner of the item once you paid for it. As a seller it's your job to get the object to it's new owner in the timeline outlined in the original purchase agreement. I would give him 3 stars...maybe... I HATE it when sellers hold my property!!

Positive feedback for sure. On Communication and Shipping time: 3 Stars tops. That is what DSR (Detailed Seller Ratings) are for: "These ratings provide more details about this member's performance as a seller. Five stars is the highest rating, and one star is the lowest rating."

He may have had some issues going on, but if I do I always let my buyers know. Zero communication and poor packaging is unacceptable. I'd leave a neutral but be willing to change it if they send you a good explanation. Is it a big time seller (30000 FB or something)? Chances are they just messed up in that case, but if its a small time seller its POSSIBLE something is going on. I treat other people respectfully as a seller, and I would like the same as a buyer.

Maybe this seller will realized the mistake he is doing to others and make it a point to correct it then.

Things happen, however, there is NO excuse for no communication. Positive feedback because you did get what you purchased. Stars as they are in truth. Shipping no more than 3 the rest according to reality.

Positive on the feedback, maximum of 3 on the stars and "no communication, slow shipping and poor packaging" in the comments section of the feedback.

thanks all. took the advice. I gave positive feedback but low stars on shipment and communication. Interestingly he had not given any feedback to me (even though I paid within 25 minutes of auction close) as of yet. I suspect he won't if he can interpolate the DSR I gave. I wasn't cruel - just honest as you all advised.

I'd have given 2 stars on speed of shipment, and 4 or 5 on the rest.

I had the same thing happen last week. I gave positive Feedback. stars he got low ratings for shipping handling. Then I got the extra message from ebay asking for more information on my transaction. I let him have it and said I would never buy from again.

Quote: Interestingly he had not given any feedback to me (even though I paid within 25 minutes of auction close) as of yet. allot of sellers will wait a few weeks or even a month to give feedback to each person they have dealt with because if you sell allot it could take up a good bit of time to do with each transaction, so they just sit down once a week or so and do them all at one time

Sometimes, I think you have to be careful when you see an estimated delivery timeframe, unless it is specifically noted by the seller. No excuse for lack of communication at all. However, I think ebay is now adding the estimated time on delivery, not necesarily the seller. I also think based on ebay's rating system, 3 stars is pretty tough. 3 stars equates to a 60% rating. Without actually seeing the listing, I think it is also difficult to make a fair assessment of the transaction. Just my thoughts.

If your happy with the item and it was as described there really isn't any reason for a negative feedback. The star system is where the communication and delivery time comes into play. When this happens to me I only drop the rating one star as that hurts enough for them to get the message.
