Just picked this up, and it's now pretty much the ugliest coin I own. So I figured we should play guess the grade. If you happen to be the person who sold it to me, first -- thanks, I absolutely love it :) and second -- don't spoil it. Now, this coin is in a PCGS holder. I'm not saying if it's graded or genuined -- that's for you to figure out, muahaha. :) I'll post the grade tomorrow afternoon sometime (EST). If you want larger pictures, let me know!

Whoa, do you need a license for that? Seriously though, I can't really tell if it's EF40 or VF35. The toning is very similiar to on of my Peace dollars that was kept in a bood as a book mark. Can't wait to see the post but the bell is rally worn or it a horrible strike.

It looks like it is in an old rattler PCGS holder.
Hmmm... I'll guess MS64. I can't see the bell lines well enough to tell whether or not it's an FBL coin.

I am not much of a grade - witness my lack of prowess in the Guess-the-price contests - but I don't see significant wear, so MS-60. And I'll go on the record as stating that the cutest girls of all have freckles. So be it with Ben, too.

Details say typical MS Franklin but the two bagmarks/scratches and dull luster hold the grade back so 63 sounds right. I wonder why someone would spend more on slabbing fees than the coin is actually worth

Pardon me for hijacking your thread, canadanz, but I had to share my own ugly Ben and his story: This Ben (and his lady friend on a Peace dollar) had been hiding away for over 30 years when I found him. Someone had slipped him and his friend into a picture frame, between the two cardboard backings, and after I bought the lot of frames that he was in, transported it to California in 1982, and dragged it back to Kansas in 1987, he sat safely under the roof in my extremely hot attic for another 18 years or so. Why I didn't abandon the frames somewhere - I dunno. Fate, I guess. So a few years ago when I needed to frame a print, he and his lady friend, both extremely tanned as you can see, fell out of the frame. Needless to say, I'm never giving him OR his friend up!
