Besides ebay and Coinshops/shows where do you buy your world coins? I collection coins from British India and have a lot of difficulty trying to find coins from any other sources...

There are a few online stores. (just google it) They usually have a limited supply of world coins, especially non-bullion. But once in a while you'll get lucky. There are a couple of people here who are into British India (as a part of their collection), myself included. I hope you'll share with us what you have, I'd be interested to see. And welcome to the forum!

Expos/exhibitions, the same as county or world fair I think. If not that then the coin shop by the pound!

My two favourite ways are probably not going to be helpful for you. The first is living in a country, I have lived in spain where they had a coin and stamp market every sunday in granada close to where my flat was, then in Germany I used to go to the half yearly coin fair in augsburg and another one in munich, then in austria I had to go all the way to vienna. My second is travelling, getting around and just getting the coins in your change is great!! When buying my ticket for macchu pichu I got a special one sol coin, shiney (which is unusual in peru) and from a special series!! If you are in a country for only a few days it is a frantic search and buying things for the right price to get the right change!! Other than that, ebay and coin shops and shows, they have buckets with world coins for cheap!

svslav : Just in case you get stuck there and can't make it back to sliced bread and Starbucks, make sure you get a job in the Calcutta mint and bury a big pot of gold mohurs near my house ;)

Sliced bread and Starbucks? What are those? I'm not into that kinda nonsense. By the way, I believe you and I grew up in a neighborhood, I did in Uzbekistan. Close enough? About the local coin shows, here's the start.

If you want World coins I think coin shows are a good place to look. About 10 years ago, I decided to expand my collection from the base of ancients to through all centuries into modern, up to the early 1970's, when by that time silver as a circulating medium disappears.
The result of this developing process, naturally, is that 20th Century coins are over represented, and coins from the Dark Ages are very rare, but not unobtainable. I have a nice little English bronze Sceat of Eanred c/- 640 AD.
There are a lot of interesting coins in the second half of the 19th Century, when gold was a normal part of circulation.

Sorry. Show is in Mississippi. There is a CCF forum with listings plus you can google it. Surely Seattle has lots.
edit: sorry svslav. that's a good link.

I went to a couple of coin shows before and I felt like all the coins were priced as high as the book price or higher. I will be going to another show soon and I hope I find some coins there. I should keep an eye out for estate sales. Should be a great way to find world coins particularly with a lot of people looking for US coins than foreign.
