Well you can't get much better than this! I just got my Hawaii dollar back from grading and it got a 63PPQ!

I thought I would share some pictures.

Oh happy day!

Mike

Does anyone have access to the PCGS population reports for this note? I am very curious how many are out there.

It means "premium paper quality". According to their site

"To distinguish notes that bear all the hallmarks of complete originality and outstanding paper quality for the grade, we will affix a "PPQ" (Premium Paper Quality) designation to the grade."

The S-C block is one of the most common of the Hawaii notes printed with a large print run. I believe it's the A-C, F-C, and *-A that are the three lower print runs for the Hawaii series. I don't have my books with me to give you excact numbers, if no one comes up with them by the time I get home I'll post them for you.

I would appreciate it. I have seen a handful of these on ebay recently, but I haven't noticed many in better condition than this. I did see a 64PPQ there, but that was the highest. Mine probably would have gotten that if it wasn't for the centering.

It depends on what kind of notes that person collects. I personally buy whatever emergency notes (Hawaii/N. Africa) that I can find reasonably priced, usually between $10-$40. Conditions in that price range have been from VF-CU.

If someone were collecting graded notes and only wanted CU-GEM that's where alignment comes into play. Among many other things the note cannot have the alignment marks visible to be graded GEM. There is a decent value difference between CU and GEM, I'll let you know what they are for this particular note later.
