Something about the big coins I'm drawn to.

Any clue on how many are in this series?

I enjoy having all I can of the types lol

My very most favorite coin in my raggedy collection is a 1945 Australian Penny. I just love it. I have a lot of British pennies but it's just not the same. The kangaroo maybe :)

the kangaroo penny was minted from 1938 until 1964.
There was very little change in the reverse side.
There were three obverses:
1938~48 KG6, "IND.IMP." in legend
1949~52 KG6, "IND.IMP." removed from legend
1953 QE2, no "F:D:" in legend
1954 no issue
1955~64 QE2, "F:D:" added to legend

1943 pennies were minted in Melbourne 11m, Perth 33m, and Bombay 9m.
1944 pennies were minted in Melbourne 2.45m, and Perth 27.8m

Melb - no mintmark
Perth - dot after PENNY
Bombay - letter "I" (India) under King's head.

Pennies were withdrawn from circulation in 1966.

I suspect that a lot of Australian coins of the WW2 era went to the USA in the pockets of returning soldiers.
