So I'm getting into Full Step Jeffersons (just a little), but I'm curious if there's a way to tell how many PCGS has graded?

For example, how many 1951-D FS at grades MS64-66? I'm a free member of the PCGS, but is that something I'd have to pay for in order to get access to? I know they have to have it somewhere!

Thanks

Poke around the PCGS site and look for the "Population Report".

To your specific question on the 1951-D MSFS, I looked up the PCGS population data in the grade range you indicated:

MS64FS - 72 PCGS certified
MS65FS - 109 PCGS Certified
MS66FS - 39 PCGS certified

There are no PCGS 1951-D FS certified above MS66FS ...... hence this 'Top Pop' coin is known as 39/0.

My best 'Top Pop' Jefferson is a 1944-S MS67FS at 28/0.

Only if you're a paid member.

With that said, Heritage Auctions' archives include this data for each sold coin, at the time of the sale. Membership there is free, but I cannot guarantee the safety of your wallet once you see what they have to offer.

I haven't been on Heritage much. I have an account, but I was a little over whelmed by the site. I need to sit down and figure it out. Everyone seems to like it a lot more then ebay.

And I checked - you have to be a paid member to get to the population report ;/ I gotta poke around for a free one. I don't care if it's super up to date.

39/0 : the 39 means there are 39 coins that share the same grade, the 0 means there are none higher, if it were 15/1 it would mean 15 coins share the same grade with 1 coin graded higher
