Looks kinda funny to me, too. Did you see his other "pcgs photograde" listings? They don't quite look right either.

yeah, I looked at a couple Morgans and saw that they were odd, then I saw this and knew something was up

I wouldn't buy anything in those holders; looks like he is trying to scam someone. Coins look very suspect.

they look legit, but dipped/cleaned non harshly.
Maybe slightly over graded.
I would say a VF/cleaned is about right. Assuming its authentic.

Well in the end he got 20 bids on this, the winner should be experienced with 4181 score, so not a rookie to ebay. Wonder what these guys saw? Such a place E-bay, you can sell Ice to Eskimos

would anyone like to share what about this coin looked 'odd'. I'm just not sharp enough to tell the difference. I'm not in the market for something this expensive but it is always good to educate oneself.

It is hard to tell one way or the other. The pics are blurred so minute details cannot be picked out and some sort of crud is coating the coin giving it an odd appearance

I'll point out the obvious. I think the holder itself is misleading. It looks like he slabbed it and labeled it himself. If he's trying to say the coin is graded by PCGS he did a pretty poor job of it. What it says is "PCGS Online Photograde tm XF 40". He does not mention the PCGS part in his description. But the implication is... . How many people viewing the auction would not pick up on that. As far as the coin, I can't tell.

I think he means he used PCGS online grading to come up with an XF40 grade on his own.
