If the spot is tight I put a junk coin in first to open up the hole. Then remove it to nicely slide in the important one.

I've got a cotton cloth that I use.

I seldom have issues with my Dansco albums, so lightly pressing in with a cotton cloth usually works. On the rare occasion that I have a tight fit, stretching the hole with another coin has always worked for me.

Thanks for the information you guys. This has always been a pet peeve of mine also with the worry of damaging the coin in the process.
