A fellow member, Meldercat, suggested that we share some coins to allow members to see the type of coins that some of us have in their collections.

Since he has a Lugdunum denarius of Augustus as his avatar I thought that I would kick things off with a few denarii of Augustus from Lugdunum that I either own now or have owned ...

The ever popular Caius and Lucius Caesars type (I had to part with this one a couple of years back after losing my job):-

Augustus-Denarii

a capricorn reverse:-

Augustus-Denarii

and a Apollo Citharoedus reverse:-

Augustus-Denarii

What do use for your pictures? I have been using a Canon SD870 IS. I seem to always playing with the lighting.

Actually, I have an aureus of Caius and Licius, but it is not as nice as that denarius!

Meldercat,
I use a Canon EOS 400D DSLR (known as the Rebel XTi in the USA, I think). I also use a Macro lens. I took a while to get a lighting setup that I found that worked for me. Now all I have to do is attach the camera to my tripod and I am ready. I am always careful to adjust the white balance using a grey card before a session.

By the way that aureus is lovely!

This coin isn't from Lugdunum but continues the Augustus theme....

Minted in Spanish mint (Emerita?).
