just wondering. Want to post some pictures and it is apparently too big and has spaces in the name?

After downloading your pic, right click on the pic and open it in "Paint".Once it opens go to the top left and choose "Image" Scroll down to "stretch/skew" and where it shows Horizontal/ 100% and Vertical 100% just reduce both numbers to 75% and it will fit on the site.If for some reason it still doesn't fit just keep reducing a little at a time until it does.

IMO you should just use Photobucket, Photobucket pictures don't need to be resized to be put on here and so the image can be considerably smaller than a photo condensed to fit CCF's requirements. You just have to upload the file, and Photobucket will have a forum IMG link, just copy and paste that into a post and your image will appear.

We actually prefer to discourage posting pics to external sites like Photobucket, because pics on external sites tend to expire after 90 days, or if the account-holder deletes them. If a linked-to pic is deleted from the external site, it's gone from here as well, and you end up with threads like this, that aren't much use to anybody.

Or, even worse, the external site might replace linked pictures with others, which just leads to confusing threads like this one, where the coin pictured is clearly not either of the ones being discussed.

If you must download large images that simply can't be shrunk to fit the forum, (banknote images for example) and if you've got more than 50 posts, you can register to use CCF's very own Photo Gallery, which doesn't have the same file size and name restrictions the forum image downloader has.

You can also download a copy of Irfanview from CCF and edit your pictures with it. Click Here. This neat little program lets you shrink pics easily to whatever size you wish. Open an image file in it, then click on Image - Resize/Resample ad type a new size into the box - 300 to 500 pixels high is plenty, and should compress down into a JPEG that's smaller than the forum limit. When you save the resized pic, don't forget to give it a "forum-legal" name (no spaces, symbols etc).
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

^^^^^naaaaaa... there is a simple simple fix for resizing images!!

google.... Image Resizer Microsoft Power Tool

Super nice - super fast - just right click on any image and you will see the option to resize the same way you see copy and paste.

I simply scan my coins and resize them with my scanner (Epson) software on the spot. I also had to increase the contrast and brightness for my av coin to show up properlay, and the software took care of that, too. I've never had any trouble with images disappearing from Photobucket, although I haven't actually gone back and tried to remember which ones I'd posted several years ago.
