Ever so slowly!! But it's coming along.

I didn't pick the nicest coin I have (cause I don't own any real nice ones yet), but I decided to really try to capture the toning on this one. Honest opinions please, you can't hurt my feelings.

I do realize that the reverse is OOF at the top. Not sure how to correct that as I don't know what my mistake was.

Not bad, a little out of focus but I have done worse, much worse. Toning is very hard to get. I have had my best luck with natural lighting.

That's not a bad idea. I'm going on vacation soon, but when I get back I think I'll try a nice sunlit area.

Nice job of capturing the toning ...... and as you know the focus is a big barrier to success.

I say keep on experimenting and show us what you have come up with.

You took this shot at a slight angle. You need to have the camera mounted straight up and down so the coin is parallel to the plane of the lens. Depth of field is very shallow in macro photography.

If you use higher aperture settings, you can increase your depth of field, but you'll have to use more light.
