Has anyone heard of this bullion coin yet? H.R. 6166 was passed by the Senate on November 30 and is expected to be signed into law by the end of next week. The obverse will be the Winged Liberty design that was used on the Mercury dime but will be in a high relief. I can't wait to see one.

I don't think we are scheduled to see them until 2012. Both faces are to be reuses of previous designs. Too bad the mint hasn't got the guts to tell congress that it is perfectly of designing coins on its own (oh, that's right, they aren't). I would like to see such a project given to a single sculptor and a single engraver just like it was a hundred years ago and see what we get. Can the design by committee concept.

I had not heard of this, thanks for the heads up. Anyone ever notice how all the good designs are on all the coins with real metal content? The newer coins IMO dont look good.

Go grief another rammed through piece of legislation. Submitted with ZERO co-sponsers they manage to get it slipped through both houses with no debate and no hearings and without even being voted on by placing it on the unanimous consent calendar. (Unanimous consent passes without a vote unless someone objects to it.) So we may get a now palladium coin simply because one representative (and probably two Senators) wants it to benefit one of his constituents.

There is no question that the palladium coin is a Montana thing, fortunately it won't be on the same scale as the Morgan dollar and the Nevada silver lobby.
