Well, at least this guy is smart enough to buy them on a different account than he is selling on...

Did anyone notice what looks like a "S" mint mark in one of the photo's of the second listing? How does this guy acquire so many UNC rolls? These coins look too good to be real to me.

Tim, he mentions the "S" in that auction although I don't know why people are bidding given the fact that he advertised a CC roll.

what makes anyone think this is a whole roll of CC Morgans? It clearly states in the auction that "Mixed Rolls with mixed mint marks, CC, S, O." all we know is the end one is a CC (probably a 1882-1884) and the front is a 1880 something (probably a S)and no telling what is in the middle or what condition

I guarantee you the seller knows what every coin is in the roll. Like someone else said on another thread "there is no such thing as an unsearched roll on ebay."

I think just the fact the paper says they are from Carson City bank some buyers may presume they are CC Morgans in it but chances are there is only one and it is strategically placed by the seller to show that one coin on the end of the roll

It's a scam. EVERY seller of these rolls has already searched them. Quote: A letter from one of the toughest and the largest grader today, gives a nice blessing to the rolls, and every roll we have sold at auction or to private investors have been given 100% positive feedback ratings.
Why is he getting rid of them

Probably an MS 62 CC on one end, an MS 63 common date on the other, and a bunch of bullion in the middle. So 360 plus 140 plus 40 = 540 or a bit more than half what he is asking. Expect also thatvthe edge coins are probably whizzed or polished might be worth half that much.

Hmmm he says the rolls are unsearched so not sure how he guarantees MS. Probably stuffs them with common date MS60's might as well be bullion

The State Bank & Trust Company of Carson City was not established until 1903....It failed in 1907.....(Not much reason to believe that all coins in a roll are of the same mm or condition)....still, I have no reason to believe that the seller is trying to pull anything over on anyone, I am the trusting sort until proven that I should not have been.

The reason not to trust him is that this is the most common scam on ebay -- put a couple pretty coins on the ends of a shotgun roll full of crap and buyers will line up in droves for the chance to "win the lottery". Obviously, if the rolls were real they would not always have some rare/pretty/valuable coins. EVERY shotgun roll I've ever seen on ebay has a VDB, a CC, etc.. at the end.

It's too good to be true, as the end coins would have accumulated more toning if it were a real shotgun roll.

Note they can also have the occasional shill buyer who will post "I found an MS-63 1893-S!" That will get all the other buyers into a bidding frenzy every guy who watches Coin Vault will be scarfing these up.
