I found this old cast coin the other day and happeend to discover that it's Japanese (found a picture in 19th C. Standadrd Catalog). The only info on it, however, was a translation: Kanei Tsuho. Nothing more about it, no other pictures, mintage, or value info. The reverse is blank. Thoughts on the above? Thanks! Happy Hanukkah!
There were practially millions casted. No mintage as no records were kept back then as well as no date but you can have a rough idea when it was casted.
Thanks for the help, all. The coin is not magnetic and therefore not made of iron. I found more info in the 17th Century Standard Catalog and, as it doesn't appear to have any mint marks on either side, I can only assume the coin is from 1636-56, 1 mon, and is worth about 50 cents.
