Junk Silver

There are simple formulas to use to calculate silver value of U.S. coins. For 90% silver use: 0.715 X Spot Price. This will give you the multiplier. For 40% use: 0.295 X Spot Price. Right now at $29.59 spot we're at 21.1X face for 90% and 8.7X for 40%.

Remember these are silver value and form a starting point for pricing. Many people buy and sell at under spot. Sometimes well under spot these days. Good Luck!

I sold some at 7x face to my local B&M on Saturday.

Due to the extra cost of refining 40% halves expect to get much less than silver value for them. At around $2650 of silver for $300 FV of 40% I would say you could expect about $2000. I would consider anything above 6X face to be good. I can hardly find anyone to give that around here.
