I find that it's a bit of a challenge. You have to envision where the flip side of the coin would hit and note what features would be in what location. I find it difficult also. I hope others reply on here with some decent tips on how to do it.
The key to looking for a die clash is looking in the fields, not the devices. Tilt the coin as if you were checking for full luster, the light can then pick up the small impressions in the field if a clash is present.
